Joel Kasten provides emergency department coverage and is often the first clinician a patient sees.
He treats fractures, lacerations, infections, and the full run of injuries that come with farming, ranching, and highway work in a rural county. His background in athletic training shows in how he handles musculoskeletal injury and concussion.
He also coordinates the department’s work with county EMS, running joint training with volunteer responders from the surrounding townships, most of whom are the first medical contact for anyone hurt more than fifteen minutes out of town.
